FOLLOWING a break after the second derbies of the 2020 OVO Australian Water Polo League season, the two West Australian teams are back in action this week for a New South Wales road trip against the Balmain Tigers and the University of NSW.

Prior to the break for the OVO AWL competition mid-season, both Fremantle and the UWA Torpedoes played out derbies back in Round 5 at HBF Stadium.

Player Nominations for National Championships Now Open

Player nominations for the National Championships in Adelaide (20 – 24 May) are now open for Under 16’s and Under 19’s teams.

Close date for team player nominations is Tuesday, 10 March so please commence the discussion within your clubs now.  Submissions prior to the close date are welcome. Please email the club nomination forms to info@waterpolowa.asn.au.

Please note that the nominations have to be received from affiliated clubs and regional associations.

Call for EOI – WA State Teams Coaches

Water Polo Western Australia is pleased to announce that teams will be entered in the National Championships being held in Adelaide, 20 – 24 May 2020.

Teams are Under 16’s (16/U – Born 2004 and younger) and Under 19’s (19/U – Born 2001 and younger), both male and female.

We are seeking expression of interests from coaches to lead respective teams preceding and during the event.

THE West Australian teams in the OVO Australian Water Polo League hit the road for the first time in 2020 this week with Fremantle and UWA Torpedoes taking on both the Hunter Hurricanes and Queensland Thunder.

South Fremantle Bloods claim Men’s A-Grade title

MELVILLE’S South Fremantle Bloods are the 2019 Men’s A-Grade premiers after winning Saturday’s Grand Final at Bicton Pool 13-8 over UWA Water Polo Club at Bicton Pool.

The teams for the Men’s A-Grade Grand Final were decided the previous Saturday in the Conference Finals which saw the South Fremantle Bloods defeat the Melville Sharks 14-10 while UWA booked their place in the decider by defeating Triton 15-13 in a cracking contest at HBF Stadium.

Melville Marlins win Women’s A-Grade crown

THE Melville Marlins have ended 2019 on a high ensuring Fremantle will enter the 2020 Australian Water Polo League full of confidence after winning the Women’s A-Grand Grand Final over Triton on Saturday at Bicton Pool.

The revamped Women’s A-Grade competition was played out prior to Christmas this summer to overcome the difficulties that come when trying to go up against the national AWL season once it’s up and running early in the new year.
