After more than 300 competitors from 26 Clubs have battled it out over five days, it all came down to Finals day today.
The rivalry between the two Perth teams came down to an intense bronze medal game when cross-town rivals Triton/Dolphins and UWA City Beach Bears faced off. Triton/Dolphins came out very strong, dominating in the first half. But UWA put a strong fight in third quarter goals frenzy with scores locked at various points in second half. Nevertheless, Triton/Dolphins showed persistence and determination and were able o secure the bronze medal with a 9-7 win. In the tournament, Melville Marlins finished eight, while UWA City Beach Blues and Phantoms/Geraldton placed nineteenth and twenty-fourth.
In addition to the medals and trophies presented today, the Tournament also recognised special awards.
Among those was the Think.Act.Play Medal presented to someone who embodies the values of sportsmanship and gives back to the sport. The 2017 Medal was presented to Triton/Dolphins Coach Nat Oberman who’s hard work as a Coach paid off when her side won the bronze medal. Nat is known for her significant contribution to developing young players in Perth and her passion was carried on by her team.
