WITH pressure heating up at the top of the standings in both the Fremantle and UWA Conferences with the Grand Final approaching, there were big Round 10 results on Saturday for Dolphins and Port Colts, and Triton and UWA City Beach.
The Round 10 action in the Fremantle Conference took place on Saturday at Bicton Pool with Dolphins beating Melville Sharks 8-5 and Port Colts defeating South Fremantle Bloods 18-7.
Then in the UWA Conference match ups at HBF Stadium, Triton defeated UWA Rangers 10-5 and UWA City Beach prevailed 9-8 over UWA Flotsam.
Following 10 rounds of the Men’s A-Grade competition, South Fremantle Bloods remain on top of the table at 8-2 but their lead has shrunk with the loss to Port Colts, who are now 7-3.
The Melville Sharks have three wins from 10 games while Dolphins won their first game against a Fremantle Conference opponent on Saturday.
And in UWA Conference, UWA Flotsam remained on top of the table despite their loss with eight wins, a draw and this one defeat.
UWA City Beach sits second at 6-4 ahead of Triton (4-5, one draw) and UWA Rangers (1-9).
The Fremantle Conference action took place on Saturday with the Fremantle Mariners playing the Balmain Tigers in the Australian Water Polo League on Sunday, starting with the South Fremantle Bloods and Port Colts locking horns.
Port Colts would end up prevailing 18-7 with five goals to Tom Prior, four to Luke Pavillard, Lachlan Benetti two, Oliver Girdwood two and Elijah Neesham.
Alex Gunnell scored three goals for the Bloods and Michael Brown two.
The other Fremantle Conference contest saw the Dolphins win their first game of the season against a team in their own conference, beating the Melville Sharks 8-5.
Peter Gaunt scored four goals for Dolphins and Harry Paterson three. Harry Bruce and Oli Chiari scored two goals apiece for the Sharks.
Paterson received the three votes, Bruce two and Gaunt one.
Then in the UWA Conference match ups at HBF Stadium, Triton began proceedings with a 10-5 victory over UWA Rangers.
Matt Oberman finished with five goals for Triton and Eoin Dalton two while Charlie Lennon and Campbell McAullay scored twice each for Rangers.
Oberman was awarded the three votes, McAullay two and Dalton one.
The other UWA Conference game on Sunday saw UWA City Beach defeat UWA Flotsam 9-8 in a tremendous contest.
Ollie Sheldrick and Riley Maurich scored three goals each for City Beach while Will Lantzke scored three goals for Flotsam, Oliver Davis two and Matt Hughes two.
Lantzke was given three votes, Sheldrick two and Toby White one.
