THE Melville Marlins and Applecross came away with strong victories on Saturday in the Women’s A-Grade competition with both games held at Bicton Pool.
The two games in Round 8 of the Women’s A-Grade competition were both held at Bicton Pool with the Melville Marlins beating UWA City Beach 7-5 and Applecross defeating Triton 13-6.
Those results leave the Melville Marlins atop the Women’s A-Grade competition with six wins, a loss and a draw from the opening eight games of the 2018-19 season.
Despite Saturday’s loss, UWA City Beach sits second with a 5-3 record ahead of Applecross (4-3, one draw) and Triton (3-5).
The day’s action got underway at Bicton Pool with the Melville Marlins playing UWA City Beach.
The Marlins came away winning 7-5 over Triton with Erin Redbond scoring four goals for Melville, Madeleine Quinn two and Pia Rodgers one. Tayla Walsh scored three times for UWA City Beach and Glenda Morgan two.
The second Round 8 contest at Bicton Pool then saw Applecross play Triton, with Applecross prevailing 13-6.
Brooke Pensini ended up scoring five times for Applecross with Sofia Chaves adding three goals and Kate Abbey-Wardale two.
