THE Men’s A-Grade competition for the 2018-19 season will see the eight competing teams broken up into the Fremantle and UWA Conferences with the action getting underway this Saturday at both Bicton Pool and HBF Stadium.
Water Polo WA’s top senior competition will go back to being called the A-Grade competition for the 2018-19 season and there will be eight teams taking part, four each in the respective conferences.
The Fremantle Conference will be made up of the three Melville Water Polo Club teams – the Melville Sharks, Port Colts and South Fremantle Bloods. The fourth team in the Fremantle Conference will be Dolphins.
The UWA Conference will be made up of three teams from the UWA City Beach Water Polo Club – UWA City Beach, UWA Flotsam and UWA Rangers. The fourth team in the UWA Conference will be Triton.
The set up of the season will see the four teams in each conference play one another before a Cross Conference round that will see Fremantle and UWA Conference teams lock horns.
At the end of each run of three games of inter conference match ups, there will be a Cross Conference round before the finals will see the top two teams from each Conference meet to determine the Grand Finalists – featuring each Conference winner.
The South Fremantle Bloods are the defending champions in the men’s competition after being the Fremantle Conference winner last season and then beating UWA Flotsam 19-7 in the Grand Final.
Round 1 of the 2018-19 season gets underway this Saturday with the first round of the inter conference match ups in the Men’s A-Grade competition.
The Fremantle Conference games take place at Bicton Pool from 1.15pm with the Melville Sharks playing Dolphins and then the Port Colts facing the South Fremantle Bloods.
The UWA Conference matches will be played at HBF Stadium also from 1.15pm with UWA City Beach playing UWA Flotsam before UWA Rangers take on Triton.
