FOR the second time this Women’s Premier League season we will see Cross Conference action this Saturday between teams from the Fremantle and UWA Conferences with three fascinating match ups.
Following another three rounds in the Women’s Premier League of the teams taking on one another in their respective conferences, this Saturday pits Fremantle teams up against those from UWA.
That will see two matches take place at Bicton Pool starting at 1.15pm with Dolphins taking on the UWA City Beach Blues before the North Coast Phoenix face Triton.
The lone Women’s Premier League Cross Conference battle at HBF Stadium will see the UWA Rangers play the Melville Marlins.
Starting with the match ups at Bicton Pool, the winless Dolphins host a UWA City Beach team with just the one victory so far the season.
Dolphins’ form has been building, though, coming off an impressive draw last Saturday with the a powerful Applecross outfit. That was their first game of the season after six previous attempts they have not lost in the 2017-18 season.
Their opponents from UWA City Beach have just the one win so far from five attempts this season.
The second of the women’s games at Bicton Pool then pits the North Coast Phoenix up against Triton.
The Phoenix come into the contest sitting third in the Fremantle Conference with two wins, a draw and three losses. This will be their first Cross Conference match up of the season after they had the bye the first time around.
They have a big task up against Triton who sit atop the UWA Conference even though they lost by nine goals at the hands of Rangers last Saturday. They did lose their first Cross Conference battle too, so are looking to avoid a third loss for 2017-18 this Saturday against North Coast at Bicton Pool.
The game at HBF Stadium sees Rangers play the Melville Marlins in what shapes as a tantalising contest between two teams who will be aiming to meet in the grand final next year.
Rangers come into the game off a strong 11-2 victory against Triton last Saturday which saw them improve to a 2-2 record in UWA Conference battles while also winning their last Cross Conference match up.
Rangers have been boosted of late with the presence of Alyssa Diacono, Michelle Martinelli, Tayla Walsh, Dayna O’Leary, Neve Annett and Bec Liddle, and it has proved a significant difference-maker.
They take on the Marlins on Saturday in what will be a contest pitting plenty of UWA Torpedoes and Fremantle Marlins players up against one another. Melville comes into the game still having not lost yet this season despite having two draws. They have won their other four matches to date.
