THE second go around of Cross Conference Men’s Premier League matches takes place this Saturday with four fascinating match ups including UWA Rangers against Melville Sharks, and Port Colts against Triton.
Following three more rounds of the teams in the Fremantle and UWA Conferences playing against one another, it’s time this Saturday for the second round of fixtures with the groups battling one another.
Two of the matches on Saturday take place at HBF Stadium’s outdoor pool with the UWA Rangers playing the Melville Sharks and UWA City Beach facing the South Fremantle Bloods.
Then there are two other matches taking place at Bicton Pool which will see Dolphins face UWA Flotsam and Port Colts take on Triton.
Starting at HBF Stadium, the first match up of the day pits the UWA Rangers up against the Melville Sharks in the battle between two of the leading teams from their respective conferences.
Rangers come into the game leading the way in the UWA Conference having won five of their six matches against fellow UWA teams. They had a draw in their previous Cross Conference battle.
The Sharks, meanwhile, haven’t quite been at full strength in recent weeks and that included a loss last Saturday at the hands of Port Colts. But they still sit on a 3-3 record while also having won their previous Cross Conference battle.
The other contest at HBF Stadium pits the youthful UWA City Beach team up against the Fremantle Conference leading South Fremantle Bloods.
The UWA City Beach team remains winless after seven attempts during the 2017-18 season but they are by far the youngest team in the Premier League and they continue to show some encouraging signs.
They face a significant challenge this Saturday up against a South Fremantle team who has won five of six of their Fremantle Conference battles, and having drawn previous in their last Cross Conference game against the UWA Conference leaders, Rangers.
The Men’s Premier League action on Saturday at Bicton Pool begins with Dolphins taking on UWA Flotsam.
Dolphins come into the game with just the one win for the season to date in seven attempts while Flotsam have won four of their six games in the UWA Conference, one of which was through forfeit, while losing their last Cross Conference match up with the Melville Sharks.
The day then concludes with the in-form Port Colts taking on a powerful Triton team.
Triton had been leading the way in the UWA Conference but have suffered a couple of losses of late including being forced to forfeit last Saturday. They still have won four of their six games taking out that forfeit and when at full strength, remain one of the top teams in the Premier League.
They take on the Port Colts on Saturday who have been in impressive form of late and that included a strong 9-4 victory last week over the Melville Sharks.
They have now improved to a 3-3 record in Fremantle Conference battles while having also beaten UWA City Beach in their last Cross Conference match up.
