Round 3 Women’s Premier League Preview

Posted by:

ROUND 3 of the Women’s Premier League takes place on Saturday with Applecross, the Melville Marlins and Triton all looking to remain undefeated while Dolphins and Rangers search for their first wins.

It is the third round of the Women’s Premier League season and it will mean that each team in the respective Fremantle and UWA Conferences will have played one another by the end of it.

The Fremantle Conference match ups take place at Bicton Pool with Dolphins playing Applecross and then Melville Marlins facing North Coast Phoenix.

The UWA Conference Round 3 game pits the UWA City Beach Rangers against Triton at HBF Stadium. The 1-1 UWA City Beach Blues have the bye.

The Dolphins clash with the Applecross in the Fremantle Conference begins at 3.30pm at Bicton Pool.

It’s a big game for Dolphins too because going 0-3 to start the season would leave them with a big job to remain in finals contention. They have so far lost to the Marlins and Phoenix, but the task against Applecross is a big one.

Applecross started the season beating North Coast before last Saturday’s exciting 15-15 draw with the Marlins.

Kelly Parks, Sofia Chaves, Ebony Brown and Sarah Leavy are among the dangerous attacking threat Dolphins will need to keep in check while getting plenty of scores themselves from the likes of Nicole Wallace and Alkira Remaj.

The second game in the Fremantle Conference sees the Marlins play the Phoenix from 4.45pm at Bicton Pool.

Both teams have a win over Dolphins already early this season while Melville also drew with Applecross with North Coast narrowly losing to that same opponent.

It should be a terrific contest as the Marlins and Phoenix hunt their second win of the season heading into the first Cross Conference battles in Round 4.

The Round 3 UWA Conference contest takes place at HBF Stadium from 4pm with the Rangers playing Triton.

Triton have so far won their only game of the 2017-18 season while Rangers have lost theirs.

A win for Triton on Saturday and a 2-0 start will be a great way to open the new campaign while going 0-2 for Rangers will be far from ideal.
