Senior State League grand final day recap

IT was Senior State League grand final day at HBF Stadium on Saturday as the four divisions in both the men’s and women’s competitions decided their premiers for 2016-17.

The women’s reserves grand final saw Triton 1 defeat the Melville Pearls 5-4. Zoe Ward and Kali Oberman scored two goals each for Triton. Kelly Parks found the back of the net three times for Melville.

Then in the women’s Division 1 grand final, the Melville Mermaids beat Phantoms Ghosts 4-2. Olivia Neesham, Emma Thillainath, Rebecca Clayton and Kate Collins scored Melville and Kelly Botha and Rosemary David for Phantoms.

Dolphins Stirling Raiders won the Division 2 women’s grand final beating Somerset Seals 10-1. Maggie Earl scored four goals for Dolphins and Jemma McFarland two. Rhiannon Petersen was the scorer for the Seals.

And in the women’s Division 3 grand final, Triton beat the Melville Mystics 5-3. Natasha Oberman scored three goals for Triton and Julie Gliddon two for Melville.

Then in the men’s reserves grand final, the ITM Dolphins defeated Triton 8-3. Harry Paterson delivered five goals for Dolphins shortly before also helping them to the Challenge Cup victory.

And in the Division 1 men’s decider, the Melville Saints defeated the UWA City Beach Dugongs 7-3. Peter Arancini scored four times for Melville and Tim Neesham twice. Nick Lantzke, Tim Ryall and Ben Johnson were the scorers for UWA City Beach.

The men’s Division 3 grand final saw the UWA City Beach Bears defeat Melville F Troop 4-3. Raymond Mayers scored two goals for UWA City Beach and Mark Mason and Robert Cullingford one each. Lee Stiles, Shane Highman and Peter Fezaks scored for Melville.

And in the men’s Division 4 grand final, Triton downed the North Coast Phoenix 7-3. Lachlan Compton scored three times for Triton and Peter Rogers twice. Alexander Kovalenko scored twice for North Coast.
